At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Cong Tac highlighted the successful production of the test kits, saying that it was a great contribution by Vietnamese scientists to the COVID-19 control efforts.

The test kit was jointly studied and developed by the Military Medical University and Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company. The kit used real-time RT-PCR technology to test for SARS-CoV-2 and the result will be available after 60 minutes. Each test costs VND 400,000 to 600,000.

At present, over 40 domestic hospitals and disease control centers have registered for the test kits.

Also at the meeting, Viet said that the company will export test kits to Iran, Finland, Malaysia, and Ukraine in the near future, including 4,000 and 300 kits ordered by Iran and Ukraine, respectively.
