Some 20 countries order Vietnam-produced SARS-CoV-2 test kits
PANO - Some 20 countries and international businesses are negotiating with Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company to order Vietnam-produced novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) test kits, as revealed by the company’s General Director Phan Quoc Viet at a meeting held in Hanoi on March 17.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Cong Tac highlighted the successful production of the test kits, saying that it was a great contribution by Vietnamese scientists to the COVID-19 control efforts.
The test kit was jointly studied and developed by the Military Medical University and Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company. The kit used real-time RT-PCR technology to test for SARS-CoV-2 and the result will be available after 60 minutes. Each test costs VND 400,000 to 600,000.
According to the producer, it is capable of providing 10,000 tests a day, using 200 test kits.
At present, over 40 domestic hospitals and disease control centers have registered for the test kits.
Also at the meeting, Viet said that the company will export test kits to Iran, Finland, Malaysia, and Ukraine in the near future, including 4,000 and 300 kits ordered by Iran and Ukraine, respectively. The capital city of Hanoi has also ordered 4,000 test kits to meet local demands and to present to Italy.
