Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee Huynh Duc Tho said that the Da Nang smart city project in the 2018-2025 period with a vision toward 2030 was approved in late 2018. The project is considered a driving force for the city's economic growth in the coming time.

At the conference, the delegates were informed of the smart city building plan of Da Nang, the trend of building smart city in ASEAN, and experience in building smart city in Malaysia.

The annual event serves as a forum for international delegates to share their visions, strategies, and experiences of building smart cities and discuss measures to better manage and develop smart urban areas through new technological platforms such as the Internet of Things, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence.

Especially, during the summit, the related parties can directly discuss and propose solutions to various urgent problems in cities of Vietnam, including the urban traffic management, public order and security, and environment. These approaches aim to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of management, boost the digital transformation of authorities and businesses, and bring practical benefits to people.

Along with the summit, there was also a seminar and an exhibition introducing advanced technology products and solutions for building smart cities.
