The title was to acknowledge the Vietnamese locality’s efforts in the e-government development. Notably, 100 percent of its administrative procedure is operated by computers and through intranet.

In 2017, the province ranked first among 63 provinces and cities nationwide in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and gained the first place in the Public Administrative Reform (PAR) Index at the same time.

Three other Vietnamese agencies, the Ministry of Finance, the MISA JSC and FPT University, also received the ASOCIO 2018 Awards. This is considered as a recognition of the international community of the country in developing and applying information technology over the past time.
