The expressway project, approved by the 15th National Assembly in December 2025, is considered a key transport project for Nghe An province, the North-Central region and the East-West economic corridor between Vietnam and Laos.

The route is part of the Hanoi - Vientiane Expressway network and will directly connect with the Eastern North-South Expressway, the Ho Chi Minh Road and the national transport infrastructure system. Once completed, the project is expected to boost regional connectivity, trade, tourism, logistics and investment, enhance competitiveness of the locality and the region, while strengthening national defense and Vietnam – Laos relations.

The 60-kilometer expressway, passing through nine communes in Nghe An, has a total investment of nearly VND 24 trillion.

Addressing the event, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Thanh An emphasized that the project reflects Nghe An’s strong development ambitions and supports the goal of building the province into a development hub in the North-entral region.

Also on May 18, within the framework of Sen Village Festival 2026, Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee and T&T Group inaugurated the nine-tier waterfall project at the tomb site of Hoang Thi Loan, mother of President Ho Chi Minh, in the Kim Lien Special National Relic Site.

The complex includes a central lake, waterfall-stream system and landscaped walkways, combining natural scenery with local cultural features.

The waterfall consists of nine cascading levels symbolizing the nine parental virtues, honoring the sacrifices and nurturing care of parents while expressing remembrance for Hoang Thi Loan.
