Accordingly, the project aims to diversify means of environmentally friendly passenger transport, facilitate connection among bus and railway stations, urban and residential areas, commerce centers, office buildings, and inter-agencies areas, as well as promote tourism development.
According to the Municipal Department of Transport, the project consists of two phases.
In the first phase (from 2022 to 2023), 500 bicycles and 500 electric bikes will be available for rent at 70-80 stations in Ba Dinh, Tay Ho, Dong Da, Thanh Xuan districts and at the entrances and exits of the Cat Linh – Ha Dong urban rail line.
In the second phase (from 2023 to 2024), the department will focus on expanding the service to other urban districts and increasing the number of bicycles and stations to 3,000 and 350, respectively.
As reported, the project is estimated to cost VND 26 billion. It will be piloted for 18 months before being put to official use. Tri Nam Corporation will be the operator of the project.
Users will pay a fee of VND 20,000 per hour and VND 200,000 for a whole day to rent a bicycle.
