Five imported COVID-19 cases reported on December 14
Five new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the past 24 hours, all of them Vietnamese returning from abroad, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced on December 14 evening.
The new patients, comprising two from Angola, two from Indonesia and one from Saudi Arabia, were quarantined right upon their arrival in northern Thai Binh and Ninh Binh provinces, and the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.
With the new cases, the national tally now stands at 1,402, of which 693 are locally transmitted.
Among the COVID-19 cases in Vietnam, 1,246 have recovered while the fatalities remain at 35.
As for those still under treatment, four have tested negative once for SARS-CoV-2, five twice and 11 thrice.
A total of 19,992 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or arrived from pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined nationwide, with 209 at hospitals, 15,593 at concentrated facilities, and 4,190 either at home or accommodations.
