Deputy PM hails army’s efforts in COVID-19 fight
The military forces have made significant contributions to the fight against the acute respiratory disease caused by a novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said at a teleconference on February 19.
He said the forces have continuously controlled well the border areas and effectively quarantined suspected cases.
As of February 17, the army received over 2,290 citizens coming backing home from disease-affected areas, and quarantined them at 14 military locations.
Border guards in seven Vietnam-China border provinces have coordinated with the police, customs officials and militiamen in keeping a close watch over the disease.
So far, Vietnam has recorded 16 infection cases with 14 being successfully treated and the other two in good health.
