"Clean up the sea" campaign to be launched nationwide
PANO - On July 12, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee (HCYUCC), the Vietnam Youth Association and other relevant organizations held a press conference to announce the launch of the “Clean up the sea" campaign in 2018.
The annual campaign, launched by the National Volunteer Center and VTV24 News Center for the first time in 2016 in 28 provinces and cities nationwide, attracts the participation of many people and organizations. This year’s program will run till August 31.
The program focuses on raising public awareness of the importance of the sea towards man’s life and on mobilizing the community to join hands in protecting the sea environment through practical deeds and supporting disadvantaged fishermen.
According to the organizers, tourists are also welcomed to take part in dissemination activities and in cleaning up the sea at the weekend.
At the press conference, the National Volunteer Center, the Ministry of Public Security, the low-cost carrier Vietjet Air, and the US Embassy in Vietnam also launched the poster design and initiative contest entitled “Clean up the Sea.”
Entries should be sent to the office of the National Volunteer Center: 7th floor, 62 Ba Trieu street, Hanoi.
The closing ceremony of the campaign and the awarding ceremony for the contest will be held in September.
