PANO – Around 1,250 delegates will attend the eighth National Congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) for the 2012-2017 period at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace in Hanoi on November 21-22, as revealed at a press conference in Hanoi on November 13.
The congress aims to review the VBS’s religious activities during the 2012-2017 period, adopt a plan for the Sangha in the next term, pass the sixth Charter (amended), and elect new members to the VBS’s Dharma Patronage Council, Executive Council and other organizations.
Additionally, the participants discuss nine goals for the next term, including strengthening unity and preserving Vietnamese Buddhist values, in order to join hands with the whole people in the national construction and defense cause.
