Blood donation drive held in Hanoi
PANO - The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion on February 22 launched a blood donation drive with the participation of leaders, staff and youth of the institute.
This was the first activity ahead of the Xuan Hong (Red Spring) Festival 2018 which is one of the largest blood donation drive of the year.
The activity aimed to promote the traditions of the hospital over the past years and demonstrated the doctors' and staff's responsibilities to ensure an adequate blood supply for more than 150 hospitals in the Northern region.
According to Dr. Bach Quoc Khanh, Director of the institute, after the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday, the hospital’s blood reserve currently stands at no more than 9,000 units of blood, only ensuring a supply of blood for emergency and treatment at hospitals for about 10 more days.
Through the activity, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion hoped that many agencies and units will respond and coordinate with the institute to hold the blood donation drives in early Spring to ensure sufficient blood supplies for both emergency and scheduled treatment.
