PANO - The Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) People’s Committee and the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) on September 29 inked an agreement to develop a smart Ho Chi Minh city in the 2017-2025 period with a vision to 2030.

The signing ceremony was held in HCMC in the presence of Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong.

Under the agreement, VNPT will make plans and give advice on contents and methods of conducting a survey to find facts of issues related to a smart city. It will also consult the committee about the building of a general architecture frame for a smart city, including information and communication technology (ICT) and solutions to a smart city.

The group will advise its partner on building an open ecosystem as well as mapping out stages of constructing a smart city in line with current demands and integrating services and smart systems into the architectural frame of a smart city.

Also under the inked deal, the group will cooperate with its strategic partner to conduct studies on the development of the city and propose solutions to and pilot ICT solutions in the focused areas of transport, healthcare, public security, water supply and sewage, construction, environment, energy, education and more.

At the ceremony, the group asked its partner to create favorable conditions for the implementation of ICT projects to meet growing demands of the municipal departments, agencies, businesses, organizations and people for ICT applications to management and services.
