Viettel IDC, a joint venture between the Vietnamese military telecommunication giant of Viettel and Chunghwa Telecom (Chinese Taiwan), on May 24th opened its third database centre in the Song Than Industrial Zone in the southern Province of Binh Duong.
At the opening ceremony, the company’s representatives revealed that it has invested US$ 18 million in the Centre that can accommodate 40,000 host computers under Tier 3, the set of the highest standards in Vietnam at present.
The Centre will provide facilities for clients to place their host computers, leased host computers, database-storing services and allow them to recover data after natural disasters for example.
Its clients can be governmental agencies, banks, securities companies, insurance companies, ICT companies and other enterprises.
Vice-Director of the company, Le Duc Hoang, said that the fact is that it is costly to build a database centre so agencies, companies and organisations choose to hire host computers at a database centre instead.
At this point, Viettel is investing US$ 30 million for another database centre in the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Zone, bringing its total database centres to 4 by 2012.
