State President Nguyen Minh Triet on June 4 visited IMC University of Applied Sciences in the Austrian tourism city of Krems, which is developing a training cooperation programme with Vietnam’s Hue University.

Mr Triet hailed the cooperation programme in the tourism sector between the two universities as a vivid manifestation of the friendly relations between Vietnam and Austria. He noted that even though tourism is one of Vietnam’s key economic sectors, it has yet to meet with the country’s development potential due to a lack of competent personnel.

He expressed hope that more Vietnamese students will receive scholarships from the Austrian Government to study at IMC University of Applied Sciences to promote education and training cooperation between the two countries.

In the evening, Mr Triet left Krems for Oslo, beginning an official visit to Norway at the invitation of King Harald V.
