PANO – A seminar, held in Da Nang City on July 24th, strongly spread the message to call for a world free from nuclear and chemical weapons.

The seminar was co-organised by the Da Nang City’s Association of Friendship Organisations, Vietnam – Japan Friendship Organisation in the city, and the Japan’s Peace Boat.

Members of the Peace Boat, who are visiting the city, shared with local people about the consequences of nuclear and chemical weapons in wars and the importance of peace in the present world.

They also heard the experiences of the victims of the Agent Orange/dioxin in Vietnam and of nuclear bombs in Japan, and called for raising awareness of the Vietnamese youths to join hands with people worldwide to fight for a world free from nuclear and chemical weapons, as well as organizing activities to mitigate the war consequences.

“Japan was devastated by nuclear bombs, so we fully understand the hardship of the Agent Orange victims,” said Arika Kawasaki, a member of the boat.

He also called for fighting to disarm nuclear and chemical weapons so that people in the world can enjoy peace.
