Vietnam’s leading internet security firm BKAV said on Feb. 6 that a person who is defined to hack its website was arrested after more than one day of investigation.

The Hi-tech Criminal Prevention Department (C50) under the Ministry of Public Security that the hacker, who attacked WebScan.vn, a webpage of BKAV’s website, www.bkav.com.vn, is a security officer of an IT company based in Hanoi.

According to the investigation agency, the attack was conducted from the culprit’s house in Hoang Mai district, Hanoi, said BKAV General Director Nguyen Tu Quang.

At present, police is continuing investigations on other persons who get involved in the case.

On Feb. 2, a cyber attack disrupted access to the BKAV website, making a stir in the network community. The matter was spotted by a member of the BKAV forum.

Earlier, in October 2008, BKAV was attacked by a powerful denial of service attack that utilised about 1,000 computers, making the BKAV site inaccessible.
