At the event, Vice Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Manh Hung said during its 20 working days, the law-making body adopted seven laws and gave opinions on nine bills; looked into legal enforcement in land planning, use and management in urban areas since the 2013 Land Law took effect till the late 2018; conducted question-and-answer session on transportation, construction, security, social safety and order, culture, sports and tourism; and reviewed reports on socio-economic affairs and State budget, among others.

The laws passed include the Law on Prevention and Control of Harmful Effects of Alcohol and Beer, the revised Law on Education, the revised Law on Execution of Criminal Judgments, the amended Law on Public Investment, the amended Law on Taxation Management, the Law on Architecture, the Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Insurance Business, and the Law on Intellectual Property.

The resolutions on entry to the International Labour Organisation’s Convention No.98 and on law and ordinance building programme were also approved.

Ministers of public security, construction, transport, and culture-sports and tourism and heads of other sectors joined the question-and-answer session.

The legislature adopted resolutions on improving legal enforcement in land planning, use and management, and a supervisory programme and establishment of an inspection group for legal enforcement in the fight against child abuse.

Legislators approved Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court’s suggestion on appointing Maj. Gen Duong Van Thang, acting Chief Justice of the Central Military Court, as Judge of the Supreme People’s Court.

According to NA Secretary General Phuc, lawmakers also said yes to a ban on those found with a high alcohol content in their blood or breath from driving.
