National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong on September 16 received a high-level delegation of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) led by member of the CPP Standing Committee Chia Sot which is on a visit to Vietnam from September 14-18, at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.
At the reception, Mr Trong described the delegation’s visit as a vivid manifestation of the fine relations between the two countries and spoke highly of the results of talks and cooperative agreements between the two parties in the 2007-2008 period.
Mr Trong expressed his wish that the Cambodian people would make greater achievements in the national construction process, saying the Vietnamese Party, State and people always attaches importance to fostering the time-honoured friendship between the two countries.
Mr Chia Sot praised the significant achievements Vietnam has recorded in its renovation process and expressed his deep gratitude to the valuable support and assistance given by the Vietnamese Party and people to Cambodian people during their struggle for national liberalization from the genocidal regime to re-build Cambodia.
Earlier, Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee Ho Duc Viet held talks with the delegation to discuss cooperation plans between the two parties in the 2007-2008 period.
