PANO - Two out of five completed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) started their trials on May 3rd over the space of the Hanoi Capital by the Space Technology Institute, under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
Among them, the smallest UAV has a length of 1m, a 1.2m wingspan, initial cruise altitude of 200m, 2km range and load capacity of 1kg, while the largest one is 4.2m in length, has a 5m wingspan, initial cruise altitude of 3km, operational range of 100km and load capacity of 50kg with cruise speed of 180km/h.
These vehicles, equipped with photographic and video cameras, can operate automatically both day and night in all types of weather, based on the set program.
These are expected to be widely used in forest protection and management, geological surveys and map drawing.
