PANO – A workshop titled “Sharing experience and practical results in fighting against illegal immigration” was kicked off in Hanoi on January 29th by the Vietnam Border Guard High Command in association with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam.
During the two-day event, delegates discussed and exchanged views on the reality and on how to fight against illegal immigration across the border, and pointed out difficulties in granting traveling papers, sharing information in this field among relevant agencies inside and outside the country.
Besides, experts from the IMO also introduced issues relating to the global migration management to improve professionalism of local leaders in settling problems in illegal immigration control.
Senior Colonel Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Border Gate Department of the Vietnam Border Guard High Command, held that illegal immigration and human trafficking have become burning issues which required special attention by many states. Through speeches at the event, Vietnam’s relevant authorities could put forwards appropriate measures to deal with these problems.
