Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan as Chairman of The Council of the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) made its debut in HCM City on Feb.2.
Hessen State Minister of Science and Arts, Eva Kuhne-Hormann is the Vice Chairwoman of the council.
Deputy PM Nhan highlighted the VGU’s goal to become Vietnam’s leading research-orientated university .
The VGU was officially opened in HCM City on September 10, 2008. From just 32 students in its first year of existence, the university plans to enrol 5,000 students in 2020.
As a joint cooperation project between Vietnam and Germany, the VGU will receive financial support from both countries’s governments and the Hessen State.
