The central city of Da Nang plans to upgrade and build 1,000 houses for revolutionary contributors and impoverished households from ethnic minority groups in 2016, as heard at a conference on July 27 to review this year’s progress.

Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Tran Tho lauded efforts of local departments, agencies and localities in caring for families while calling on the entire society to join in the work.

So far this year, the city has repaired 987 houses and built 201 new ones at a total cost of over VND 32 billion (USD 1.47 million), helping improve accommodations for 1,052 families who rendered services to the nation and 132 disadvantaged ethnic minority households.

On the occasion, the city presented each family whose homes were built or upgraded in 2015 with a television set.

Municipal leaders also honoured the three main sponsors – VinGroup, the Hai Van branch of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam, and the Da Nang branch of Vietcombank – with certificates of acknowledgment.

The city also presented certificates of merit to three teams and 24 individuals in recognition of their excellent performance in realizing the city’s plans in the field.
