10th Congress of Vietnam Trade Unions opens

The 10th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Unions opened in Hanoi today with the participation of 989 delegates representing over 6 million members of the trade unions nationwide.
619 of them are female delegates, 48 others being ethnic minority people.
The oldest delegate is 65 years of age while the youngest is 23 years of age.
Of 989 delegates, 741 are from university or college graduates, 115 are master or doctor degrees holders.
The congress also welcomed the participation of Party, State, Government and National Assembly leaders, as well as 16 international delegations and organisations worldwide.
The Congress aims to review the trade unions’ activities over the past 5 years and work out orientations and tasks in the 2008 – 2013 period, discuss and approve the Vietnam Trade Unions regulations (revised) and so on.
