PANO – Leaders and people of Quang Tri Province on April 7th offered incense and laid wreaths at his monument in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province in commemorating the 109th birth anniversary of late Party General Secretary Le Duan.

Present at the commemoration ceremony were leaders of the provincial People’s Council, People’s Committee, the local organization of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and many local people and soldiers.

At the event, participants recalled the life and revolutionary carreer of Party General Secretary Le Duan as well as highlighted his great contributions to Vietnam’s national liberation and to country development.

Comrade Le Duan was born as Le Van Nhuan on April 7th from a working-class family with patriotism in Bich La Dong village, Trieu Dong commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province. During the difficult time of the fierce war, Le Duan had built and consolidated revolutionary bases to prepare for a long-term resistance war against foreign aggressors.

During 26 years serving as the First Secretary of Standing Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Party General Secretary proved to be a great political leader and a steadfast strategic architect of the Party. As an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, he and other members of the Politburo, the Party Central Committee together crafted sound guidelines and policies for national liberation and national protection. He also developed military scientific arts and tactics to defeat all foreign invaders and reactionary forces, contributing to the international struggle against imperialism and colonialism all over the world.

He consistently followed the Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thoughts, and dedicated his whole life to the ideal of communism, national liberation and unification, for the happiness of the people. Party General Secretary Le Duan is an outstanding leader of the Vietnamese revolution in Ho Chi Minh era.
