The anti-COVID-19 checkpoint at the Vinh Dieu Border Guard Station, Giang Thanh district, is located in a field, about 800m from the shared borderline. This is also the place where the forces have been living for nearly a year since the outbreak of the pandemic.
This spring, they are still stationed in the area, considering the checkpoints their “second home”.
Strictly implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, the militia checkpoints along the borderline of Kien Giang province are closely guarding trails and entrances in order to minimize the risk of disease infection.
A cozy Tet for soldiers on duty in border areas
Citizens return to their fatherland and enter the quarantine areas every day. So far, there are 80 COVID-19 checkpoints along the borderline of Kien Giang province with more than 1,000 citizens having completed their quarantine periods.
Illegal border crossers and smugglers are active at night.
The troops overcome difficulties to fulfil their dual-missions including border area protection and COVID-19 prevention and control.
The militiamen are maintaining their training to be ready in any circumstances
Higher levels always care for the troops and encourage them to fulfil their assigned missions
In their spare time, troops also promote production to raise their living standards.

Welcoming Spring at COVID-19 checkpoints

PANO – When people are gathering with their families to welcome a cozy spring, forces are still staying at border checkpoints in Kien Giang province to ensure security and implement COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

With silent sacrifices, troops at the checkpoints have contributed to promoting the beautiful images of Uncle Ho’s soldiers during a critical fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in peacetime.

The People’s Army Newspaper Online would like to present vivid images of troops on duty in these areas.
