PANO – The Yen (swallow) islands, dozens of nautical miles from the mainland, are not only the habitat for flocks of swallows but also serve as solid defensive areas.

These islands might be known to a large number of people but only few could have opportunity to set foot on them to see these valuable birds with their own eyes.

In recent years, the Salanganes' Nest Khanh Hoa Company has successfully applied scientific methods to increase the population of swallows while actively developing natural swallow islands along the coastline from Quang Binh province to Con Dao island district of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

Thanks to the great efforts of the guards and militia forces of the island to preserve and develop natural swallows, the company is harvesting swallow nests from 152 caves on 30 islands.

The company also worked jointly with other relevant agencies to protect the environment and the national sovereignty over sea and islands, help local fishermen take refuge from storms and conduct search and rescue.

PANO would like to introduce some activities of the militia of the Salanganes' Nest Khanh Hoa Company.
