PANO - Over these days, various programs on Quan Ho singing (folk love duets) have been held in many villages and towns in the Northern Province of Bac Ninh.
The Vietnamese folk singing is not only a way for people to entertain but also becomes a special cultural identity of people in the region formerly called Kinh Bac, where there are more than 500 traditional festivals every year.
Quan Ho singing is an art form that combines various elements, including music, lyrics, costume and a unique style of singing that reflects the close relationship between the singers.
In September of 2009, Bac Ninh’s Quan Ho folksong was recognised as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Recently, “Quan Ho Bac Ninh” has been included in the list of “Best in Asia 2010” published by the US magazine The Times.
In particular, the two-day Lim Festival, one of the most famous traditional festivals in Bac Ninh, is taking place in Noi Due Commune, Lim Town. The ongoing event has attracted thousands of visitors from many places nationwide.
