PANO – Many Vietnamese overseas students have brought pride to the homeland with their outstanding academic results and their merit certificates given by schools in various countries.
18-year-old Le Ngoc Tuong Van has been studying in the US since she was 6 years old. Facing many difficulties in the new environment, Van was presented a title of “outstanding student” by the Kernan Middle School in Florida at the end of her first school year.

During high school, Van received three certificates by the US President and the Florida Governor for her outstanding academic achievements.
Besides, she also gained a certificate of the US President for her charitable activities.
After graduating from high school, she got full scholarship by many famous universities like Harvard, Yale and Stanford.
At present, Van is studying at Harvard – one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
Bui Huu Hau is the fourth-year student at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy in Bulgaria’s capital city of Sofia.

During three years in “the land of roses”, Hau won the title of “The best international student” by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education, Youth and Science for his outstanding studying results. He was also praised by many Vietnamese high-ranking delegations during their visits to Sofia.
In addition, he won two silvers at the Bulgarian National Student Olympiad in Mathematics in 2011 and 2012, and many scholarships by the EU member nations.
Born in Vietnam, Ngo Di Lan gained a full scholarship of the Maastricht – a famous university in the Netherlands, after graduating high school in Sweden.

During his tertiary study, Lan won the first prize at the 2013 Model United Nations Assembly seminar in Austria, pocketed “the best contestant” prize at the 2013 Model East Asia Summit (Model EAS) hosted by the US Embassy in Hanoi and became the runner-up at the Novice Leiden Open eloquence contest in the Netherlands.
Another example of outstanding Vietnamese overseas students is Duong Thi Bich Thuy, a student in the Tula State University, the biggest state university in Tula, Central Russia.

The 22-year-old girl has been glorified by Russian newspapers for her outstanding results in studying and extracurricular activities.
In 2012, Thuy ranked first at the Mathematics Olympiad held by the university. In June 2013, she won a silver at the Open International Internet-Olympiad in Mathematics in Russia.
She also was conferred a special prize of “Intelligent Olympiad female student” by the Russian Institute for Monitoring Educational Quality.
