Troubled cargo ship rescued at sea
PANO – The Quang Tri provincial Border Guard Command has successfully towed an out-of-control cargo ship to the coastal area of Cua Viet.
On the morning of February 8, ship Duc Phat 66 of Thai Binh province-based Hai Dat Shipping Company, transporting rice from An Giang province to Hai Phong city, went adrift after water had overflown into the cargo compartment while operating about 40 nautical miles off Quang Tri.

On receiving the mayday signals, the Provincial Border Guard directed both the Border Guard unit at Cua Viet Port Border Gate and Cua Viet Border Guard Post to send rescue boats to the scene.
Two local fishing boats operating nearby were also mobilized to take part in the rescue efforts.
In the middle of the day, the rescuers approached and then towed the distressed freighter ashore for repairs.
