Acknowledging that heavy rains in upper Am River of Thanh Hoa province inundated Lang Chanh district, the Thanh Hoa provincial Military Command directed the district Military Command to team up with other forces to evacuate 50 households with 300 people in Ban Chai 2 village to a safe area. The district Military Command mobilized 387 people for rescue missions.
In Ha Tinh province, storm Talas blew off roofs of 31 houses and four schools, submerged hundreds of hectares of rice, farm produce and other trees while uprooting electricity poles and sinking four trawlers.
The Ha Tinh provincial Military Command deployed 364 troops, 806 militiamen and 20 vehicles of different types to salvage sunken trawlers, clean up local environment and assist needy families.
Meanwhile, Nghe An province, where the center of the storm passed through, underwent losses on both people and property, a power cut, fallen trees, and thousands of deroofed houses. Thanks to timely evacuation plans of the local military commands, losses of people were reduced. The local authorities and related units are trying their best to overcome the storm consequences and carry out flood prevention plans.
Ten search and rescue ships of Nghe An provinces, including two coast guard and two naval ships joined the search for 13 troubled sailors of sinking cargo ship VTB 26 in the waters of Cua Lo. In late July 17 afternoon, rescue forces and functional agencies found nine people, including three deceased.
