Three Vietnamese officers (with blue berets) to undertake UN peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic and South Sudan
On June 16, at the Ministry of National Defense’s headquarters, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, handed over decisions and assigned tasks to them.

Accordingly, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Hung and Captain Pham Van Hao will serve as military observers in the UN mission in South Sudan while Major Tran Van Giang will be a military observer in the UN mission in the Central African Republic.

At the ceremony, Gen. Nam highly valued the VPC’s achievements and preparations of officers for UN peacekeeping missions.

He also asked the three officers to seriously study and implement the Party’s, State’s and Army’s standpoint and diplomatic policies, to observe military discipline and regulations of the UN missions as well as laws of the countries.

The officers were also requested to early adapt to the multinational environment, have civilized behaviors, show off their competence as an officer of the Vietnam People’s Army, heighten active spirit, surmount difficulty and be innovative during mission fulfillment.
