PANO – On August 23rd, the Military Medical Academy launched its Foreign Languages Centre and opened the first English B2 level course in 2016 for its officials and lecturers.

The event saw the participation of Dr. Do Tuan Minh, Rector of University of Languages and International Studies (under the Vietnam National University); Lieutenant General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Chinh, the Academy’s Political Commissar; Major General, Prof. Dr. Dong Khac Hung, Deputy Director of the Academy and representatives from various agencies and organizations.

Overview of the opening ceremony

Addressing at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Chinh said that the Military Medical Academy is one of the seventeen national key universities approved by the Prime Minister. One of the important factors in building national key universities is human resources with qualified academic backgrounds and good command of foreign languages. The opening of the Foreign Languages Centre and English B2 level course is essential to improve foreign language knowledge for lecturers, technical and educational staff, as well as students of the academy. The academy is now trying to develop a team of highly qualified lecturers and staff to meet requirements of international integration by 2020.

To implement Resolution 51 on training foreign languages for officials, students in the Military Medical Academy in period of 2015-2020, Dr. Nguyen Trong Chinh requested the centre to support officials, lectures and students in enrolling in the English B2 level courses; build advanced teaching curricula for teaching specialized subjects in English and encourage studying postgraduate programs in English; apply effective measures to enhance the quality of the English club and invite foreign scientists to teach and do research projects in the academy.
