PANO - President Truong Tan Sang, on the morning of October 9th, visited Hanoi Capital Command, the major unit in the combat to protect and take over Hanoi Capital 60 years ago. The visit was paid on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the capital’s liberation day and the 68th traditional day of the capital’s armed forces.
Born in the revolutionary movement of the mass, the capital’s armed forces together with the people of Hanoi have made heroic victories that have gone down in the history of the nation. In the peacetime, to meet the requirements of the national construction and defence cause in the new period, in 2008, the Capital Military Zone was renamed Hanoi Capital Command. Over the past years, the Command has always made every effort and improved creativity to complete all assigned tasks, enhancing the combat power of the forces to defend the capital under any circumstances.
Praising the unit’s achievements over the past time, President Truong Tan Sang stressed that in the coming time, there would still remain complicated developments in the world and national situations. Therefore, the cadres and soldiers of the command should make more efforts to fulfill the tasks of socio-economic development and defense and security maintenance, building the capital into a firm defensive area. The unit was also requested to advise the local party committees and authorities in building up the strong regular military units as well as militia force.
