Head of the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education Vo Van Thuong visiting PAN
Mr. Vo Van Thuong made the requirement at his working visit to the PAN on March 23 morning in Hanoi.
At the working session, the PAN’s Chief-Editor Major General Pham Van Huan gave a brief on the newspaper’s foundation and development with outstanding achievements over the past 67 years. The PAN has five publications including the daily, the weekly, the Events and Witnesses Magazine, the online newspaper of Vietnamese, English and Chinese versions and the internal journal named Correspondents.
The PAN is putting forward building the newspaper into a multimedia agency. Accordingly, it will soon launch the online newspaper of Lao and Khmer versions, as part of its project on modernizing the PAN in the 2014-2018 period.
Major General Pham Van Huan also emphasized the newspaper’s social activities and mass mobilization work to call for more support for the needy in impoverished areas and for more gratitude houses, gifts and scholarships for policy beneficiaries, revolutionary contributors and poor students.
On the occasion, the PAN’s Chief-Editor gave some specific proposals to help develop the newspaper to meet requirements of future missions.

Other participants at the working session believed, that PAN would certainly accomplish its vital tasks, contributing to the popularization and enhancement of the efficiency of the Party’s ideological and cultural work in the current context. They agreed that the PAN has a number of press winners and is the home to various prestigious journalists. They also contributed constructive opinions to help the newspaper well implement its role as a multimedia agency of the country, develop in line with its orientations, promote quality and to be deserved the leading newspaper on the combat against “peaceful evolution”, “self-evolution”, and “self-transformation”.
Addressing the working session, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Trong Nghia reaffirmed acknowledgment of PAN’s contributions by the Central Military Commission (CMC)’s, the Ministry of National Defense (MND)’s and the General Department of Politics (GDP) and hailed the newspaper for its effective organization of socio-political events, competitions and humanitarian activities nationwide.
Gen. Nghia also stressed the CMC, MND and GDP’s determination to direct and create conditions for the PAN to meet its development goals with priority given to human resources and technical equipment.
“The GDP will direct and create conditions for the newspaper to better its defense external affairs work, promote experience-sharing with foreign military newspapers, especially those from the neighbouring countries and having time-honored relationship and boost effectively and timely engagement in national protection in any circumstances”, said Gen. Nghia.
In his speech, Mr. Vo Van Thuong spoke highly of the PAN’s strong development, meeting the growing requirements of the Party, State and Army.
“In the army, the PAN, and other military press agencies, have formed a corps to implement the Party’s ideological and cultural work. It is a prestigious and reliable address for leaders of the Party, State, Army and readers nationwide and is a provider of verified news among complicated information and developments”, Thuong said.
Regarding the future’s missions, Mr. Vo Van Thuong reminded the PAN to strengthen its combat character and innovative ability; to follow closely developments in all localities to lively reflect the lives inside and outside the army; and introduce and multiply good deeds and role models to the public.
The PAN is duty-bound to have more insight articles while promoting its sharp combat against erroneous viewpoints in both theory and reality, to foster its contingent of reporters and to modernize its equipment.
