On March 9, a mission from the People’s Army Newspaper, led by its Deputy Editor-in-Chief Senior Colonel Doan Xuan Bo, handed over gifts, medical supplies, and necessities to troops and workers of Regiment 58 under Division 308 of Army Corps 1.
At the ceremony, Senior Colonel Doan Xuan Bo handed over 1,000 facemasks, 20 liters of disinfectant liquid, three disinfectant sprayers, and 90 boxes of consumer goods, which were donated by Masan Consumer Joint-stock Company.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Phu Cuong, the unit’s Party Secretary and Commissar, over the past time, the regiment has arranged quarantine zones for 653 Vietnamese citizens who had returned from 20 countries hit by COVID-19. Despite a shortage of facilities and equipment, the unit has tried its best to successfully fulfil all assigned missions.

Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Doan Xuan Bo expressed his admiration for the efforts and resolve of the troops of Regiment 58. He said that amid the complicated development of COVID-19, the People’s Army Newspaper has promoted dissemination of COVID-19 containment efforts throughout the community and military.
The newspaper also launched a program in response to COVID-19 and received the support of numerous organizations and individuals. The gifts demonstrate the community’s appreciation for the work and serve as a source of encouragement for troops in the unit to fulfil the difficult and dangerous mission.
On the same day, another mission from the newspaper presented gifts and medical supplies to public security troops of Hang Ma ward, Hoan Kiem district and Quan Thanh ward of Ba Dinh district.
On the same day, the Women’s Association of agencies under the Quang Ninh provincial Military Command presented 150 face shields to help the unit’s forces participating in COVID-19 prevention and control work. Accordingly, military women handed over 50 face shields to Regiment 244 and 100 others to the military command’s infirmary.
On the occasion, the women’s association presented 60 face shields to women of the Military Commands of Ha Long city and Ten Yen district.
All the gifts were jointly made by cadres and teachers of Hong Anh Kindergarten in Bai Chay ward, Ha Long city.
