PANO – A defence ministry delegation, led by Deputy Defence Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, on July 31st, paid a working visit to Phu Quy island district, Binh Thuan province.
At the meeting, Secretary of the district’s Party Committee Tran Toi briefed the delegation on the locality’s socio-economic development in the first six months of this year. Accordingly, the district yields on average 24,000 tonnes of seafood a year while firmly protecting defence, political security, and public order in the area.
The general praised achievements recorded by troops and people in the district over the past time. He asked local organisations and units to continue grasping the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies on sea and promoting the locality’s socio-economic development while ensuring security and public order.
The same day, the delegation visited and encouraged troops of Battalion 887 of the Navy’s Engineer Brigade 83, offered incense in commemoration of martyrs, and presented gifts to heroic Vietnamese mother Tran Thi Mai.
