APEC 2017 programs to be disseminated among army units
PANO - The Department of Information and Education under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army on April 21 in Hanoi mapped out tasks for information dissemination in the military of activities and events within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC 2017) and the APEC Year 2017.
The event was chaired by Major General Nguyen Phuong Dien, Deputy Director of the department, along with the participation of representatives from defense agencies and units in the North.
After nearly 20 years as a member of APEC, Vietnam will host the APEC Summit for the second time, after the first in 2006. This has been defined as the central task of Vietnam’s foreign affairs this year and towards 2020, contributing to implementing the resolution of the 12th National Party Congress on promoting international integration and multilateral foreign relations.
Speaking at the event, Major General Nguyen Phuong Dien stressed, that Vietnam has been entrusted to hosting APEC 2017 evidently demonstrates the international friends' trust in Vietnam as well as the country’s efforts for implementing its policy of comprehensive and extensive international integration. He also asked participants at the conference to regularly popularize information about activities and events of the APEC Year 2017 to troops and people, especially the role of the army in maintaining security and safety during this event.
At the meeting, delegates also studied the APEC year's agendas as well as discussed dissemination approaches in the army.
