Police officers of Vietnam and China gathered in the central province of Khanh Hoa on July 28 to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in fighting drug-related crimes.
In his opening speech, Deputy Director of the General Department of Police under the Ministry of Public Security Lieutenant General Dong Dai Loc highlighted close cooperation between Vietnam and China in the fight against drug crimes in recent time as the two sides are facing an increase of trans-national crimes in illegally producing, trading and trafficking drugs.

Since the fifth meeting of its kind in Sichuan, China, last October, the two sides have recorded effective connection in the work, especially campaigns to repress drug crimes along the common borderline, he stressed.
Sharing with Loc’s opinion, An Guojun , Deputy Secretary-General of the China National Narcotics Control Commission stressed the need for enhanced cooperation between the countries in combating drug crimes, saying that this will contribute to effectuating the fight against drug-related crimes in the region.
Participants shared information concerning the drug crime in recent time in each country.
In the first six months of this year, Vietnam’s relevant authorities and forces detected over 10,000 cases relating to illicit drug and seized a large volume of heroin, marijuana and synthetic drug. Meanwhile, the Chinese side brought 78 cases of drug trafficking to light, arresting over 100 traffickers and seizing 171kg of drug during the period from 2015 to the end of the first quarter of 2016.
Officers also shared experience in raising public awareness of the importance of combating drug-related crimes, and providing treatment for drug addicts.
As scheduled, the two sides will jointly arrange a campaign to repress drug crime along the borderline between the two countries in the time ahead.
