Vietnam attends Sao Paulo Forum in Cuba
A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Nguyen Duc Loi, member of the CPV Central Committee and General Director of Vietnam News Agency, is participating in the 24th Sao Paulo Forum, which opened in Cuba’s capital Havana on July 15.
The forum, held in Havana for the third time after the 1993 and 2001 editions, brought together 430 delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and Africa, with the Left’s unity in Latin America and the Caribbean as its theme.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Executive Secretary of the forum Monica Valente highlighted the importance of dialogue and consensus against new attacks on progressive governments.
The three-day forum includes various discussions and events with the participation of parliamentarians, female and youth delegates. It also establishes a position against hostile acts towards progressive governments in Latin America.
Created in 1990 as a result of the Permanent Conference of Political Parties of Latin America and the Caribbean, the Sao Paulo Forum is a space for dialogue, which attracts about 100 political parties, organisations and progressive movements in the region.
On the sidelines of the event, Nguyen Duc Loi met with Jose Ramon Balaguer, Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and head of its Department of External Relations.
The two officials discussed the situations of the two nations and international issues of mutual concern, as well as activities to bolster cooperation between the two Parties and countries.
