Hanoi police work to ensure security for DPRK-US Hanoi Summit
Hanoi police stand ready to ensure absolute security for the upcoming second summit between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the US, which will take place on February 27-28, stated a local officer on February 22.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Long at the municipal Police Department further said that all security measures will be taken at the highest level, with thousands of officers already deployed.
A representative of the department’s transport police office said the unit has mobilized 100 percent of its personnel, or over 1,000 officers, for the occasion. Working teams will guard more than 300 junctions to prevent congestion, while 30 police vehicles will be in charge of clearing the road and guiding participating delegations to their destinations.
The Noi Bai police station in Soc Son district, where the Noi Bai International Airport is located, said it has held several meetings with the Noi Bai International Airport Authority and the Hanoi Police Department on coordinating security missions serving the summit.
Earlier, the Hanoi police have built a security plan for the event, which orders 96 teams to patrol overnight and monitor the capital between 11pm and 5am. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Security has deployed additional 1,000 officers to support the department on the occasion.
