The event also saw the brochure guiding investment in wind power. The conference is part of a technical support project, worth EUR 6.9 million, launched by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. According to German experts, Vietnam has a large potential for wind power development thanks to its thousands of kilometers of coastline.

However, its wind-power projects produce only 135.2MW as there remain several obstacles, such as current low electric prices, capital shortage, and complicated legal procedures.

To implement targets of the National Power Development Plan by 2020, the country should carry out several approaches, including assessment of wind power potential, human resources training, capital mobilization, and preferential policies for relevant enterprises.
