APEC officials continue discussing major issues
Officials from member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum are expected to work on an array of issues on August 19, the second day of the third APEC Senior Officials Meeting (SOM 3) and related meetings in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Committee on Trade and Investment (CTI) will discuss free trade agreement (FTA) negotiation skills on competition and capacity building for quality infrastructure investment in the rapidly urbanizing APEC region.
The Anti-Corruption on Transparency Working Group (ACTWG) will hold a dialogue on the fight against corruption and smuggling. Meanwhile, the Automotive Dialogue (AD) – Workshop will focus on implementing the APEC Electric Vehicles Roadmap.

August 19 also marks the second working day of other APEC sub-committees and groups such as the Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures, the Sub-Committee on Standards and Conformance, the Transportation Working Group and the Experts Group on Illegal Logging and Associated Trade.
In the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, the APEC 2017 Food Security Week will continue with the Climate Symposium on Building Resilient Agro-Food Systems From Production to Consumption – Interdisciplinary Approaches for Sustainable Food Security Using Climate Information.
The delegates will further debate challenges for water and food security in the context of climate change in the APEC region, and agricultural biotechnology.
There will be a capacity building workshop on food losses and waste reduction for a sustainable APEC food system.
