Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Binh Minh also sent a congratulatory message to Foreign Affairs Minister of Japan Taro Kono. 

On the same day, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also cabled congratulatory message to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

During a dialogue between the two nations’ Prime Ministers, both sides were pleased with good development of the Vietnam-Japan multifaceted relationships in 2017; especially friendly meetings between the senior delegations of the countries including the first state-level visit of Emperor and Empress, official visit of PM Shinzo Abe to Vietnam as well as the official tournament of Vietnamese PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc to the sunrise country. 

The two leaders agreed to continue closely collaborating with relevant ministries, departments and agencies to carry out cooperation agreements of the nations’ senior leaders with a target of deepening the Vietnam- Japan strategic partnership ties including strengthening cooperation in security defense, investment of Japan in Vietnam, organization of activities to mark the 45th establishment anniversary of Vietnam and Japan in 2018. 

Relating to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc agreed with Japanese PM Shinzo Abe about mutual collaboration to early finish negotiation and signing the agreement.
