During the reception, Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) attaches great importance to the exchange of theories and policies with the ruling parties and political parties of countries worldwide, including the SPD.

Thang highly valued the mechanism of theoretical and policy dialogue since 2011, the eighth dialogue, and other working sessions between the two parties during the SPD delegation's visit this time.

The host briefed the guests on Vietnam’s achievements and experience in the cause of “Doi Moi,” the building of the socialist-oriented market economy, economic development associated with social security, among others.

He reaffirmed the Vietnamese Party and State’s external policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, development, diversification and multilateralization of relations, with active and pro-active international integration, and that Vietnam is a reliable and responsible friend and partner in the international community.

The host also took this occasion to lay stress on the similarities in approaching development policies between Vietnam and Germany, adding that the two parties should make joint efforts to strengthen practical and effective bilateral ties for peace, cooperation and development in the region and in the world, and for democracy, justice, social progress and the interests of their peoples.

For their part, the head of the SPD delegation thanked the Vietnamese Party and State for the warm welcome, showing their admiration and congratulating Vietnam on its achievements in the “Doi Moi” cause as well as the recent outcomes in economic recovery and growth.

They underlined that the SPD treasures the dialogue with the CPV, one of the most important partners of the German party, as well as the 8th dialogue.

The German officials agreed with Mr. Thang’s assessment of the importance of the 8th dialogue, affirming that the dialogue and the German delegation's visit to Vietnam continue to enhance mutual understanding and trust, as well as the friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties, contributing to strengthening the Vietnam - Germany strategic partnership.

Within the framework of the visit, the two sides held the 8th Theoretical Dialogue under the chair of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang.

During the dialogue, the two parties exchanged views on topics related to peace and development in the context of a rapidly-changing world, the planning and implementation of policies to ensure peace and stability for sustainable development, climate change adaptation, economic and energy transition in each country.

On this occasion, Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, received and had a working session with the SPD’s delegation.

At the meeting, the two sides informed each other about the situation of their party and country, and shared views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

They also discussed measures to promote bilateral relations between the two parties, thus building trust and political foundation to intensify bilateral strategic partnership in a deeper and more substantive manner.

During their visit, the SPD’s delegation paid tribute to the President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, visited the Presidential Palace complex, and worked with representatives of several Vietnamese ministries and sectors to learn about Vietnam’s policies on energy transition and sustainable socio-economic development.
