According to Director of the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS) Prof. Xu Liping, since the establishment of the Vietnam-China diplomatic relations 75 years ago, the two Parties and countries have supported each other in the struggles for national independence and liberation, forming a traditional "comrades-cum-brothers" friendship.

During the period of reform and opening-up, the two sides have exchanged and cooperated practically, achieving many cooperation results that benefit their people.

In 2008, China and Vietnam established a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, the first of its kind between China and an ASEAN country, reflecting the strategic nature and importance of China-Vietnam relations.

Xu said that the two Parties and countries are working together to build a community with shared future that carries strategic significance. This will further strengthen the "Six Major Orientations" and promote the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new levels.

Ling Dequan, a long-time expert on Vietnam and former chief representative of China’s Xinhua News Agency in Hanoi, affirmed that both the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the “Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange” hold immense and far-reaching significance.

Ling pointed out that the enduring friendship between the people of China and Vietnam has laid a strong foundation for mutual cooperation and the pursuit of common development and prosperity. He expressed confidence that in 2025, the Parties and Governments of both countries will organise numerous cultural exchange activities with rich content and diverse forms, yielding further successes across various fields.
