The top legislator highly appreciated the significant and positive outcomes in the Vietnam - E.U. ties as well as the relations between Vietnam and E.U.’s member states.

He reaffirmed that Vietnam is always in favor of strengthening the ASEAN - E.U. strategic partnership. Vietnam in general and its National Assembly in particular, is ready to play an active role in this process, he added.

For his part, Mr. Daniel Caspary shared that the delegation’s agenda with relevant Vietnamese agencies, over the past time, has demonstrated the E.P.’s  interest in cooperating with Vietnam’s N.A. and its functional agencies. He mentioned the cooperation mechanism in the implementation of the Vietnam - E.U. Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

He emphasized that during the COVID-19 pandemic, both sides saw the growth in trade and investment. Also, he expressed his expectation that trade turnover would further grow in the time to come, and parliamentary cooperation plays a crucial role in the overall cooperative relationship between the E.U. and Vietnam.

According to Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, the relationship between the Vietnamese N.A. and the E.P. has been fruitfully developing. He hoped that the two sides would further intensify cooperation, especially in experience exchange in parliamentary activities, the perfection of legal institutions, and solutions for global issues.

Mr. Daniel Caspary said that the E.U. is making efforts to seek approval from the remaining countries’ parliaments for the E.U. - Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), hoping that the E.U.’s "Global Gateway" initiative will contribute to a strong connection between the E.U. and ASEAN, as well as among people of both groupings.

Moreover, the Asia - Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP) meeting, scheduled to take place in Europe this year, will provide an opportunity for both sides to discuss and voice their opinions to further boost collaboration.
