Ho Chi Minh City's People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong (R) meets with President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarian Alliance in Aichi prefecture.

He said the alliance includes parliamentarians from different political parties but they share the consistent viewpoint of promoting collaboration with Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

He expressed his pleasure with the strong development of the two localities’ relations and hoped Japanese parliamentarians will serve as bridges to connect Aichi and Ho Chi Minh City authorities, businesses and people.

The two sides are expected to stand side by side to develop the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan, he added.

Phong said Ho Chi Minh City and Aichi have been implementing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral cooperation via sharing experience in hi-tech agriculture and hosting workshops to promote tourism.

He asked Aichi’s parliamentarians to boost collaboration activities in such fields as mechanic industry, high technology, medicine, tourism and human resources training.

The official hoped the parliamentarians will become goodwill ambassadors to tighten the friendship and cooperation between the two localities, contributing to the reinforcement of the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.

In September 2016, Ho Chi Minh City and Aichi prefecture signed the MoU on bilateral friendship and cooperation, under which they agreed to bolster win-win affiliation in economy, trade, tourism, culture and human resources development.
