HCM City wants France’s cooperation in education, smart city
Ho Chi Minh City wants to work with France to improve education and health care quality and build a smart urban area, said Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen.
He made the statement during a working session with Minister of State attached to France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne in Ho Chi Minh City on January 25.
Lauding the development of Vietnam-France relations, Tuyen said 2018 holds special significance, with the two countries celebrating 45 years of diplomatic relations and five years of strategic partnership.
Ties between Ho Chi Minh City and French localities have developed robustly, he noted, noting the initiative to build a French house in the Vietnamese southern hub, which facilitates trade promotion between the two sides.
Ho Chi Minh City will support France to carry out the project, he vowed.
For his part, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, said Vietnam-France relations are an illustration of the ties of two proactive and integrated regions - ASEAN and Europe. As both nations hold great potential for cooperation, they should work to deepen the strategic partnership.
Ho Chi Minh City and Paris have remarkable similarities, and France’s capital is ready to cooperate with the Vietnamese city in the fields of strengths of both sides, he noted.
France is accelerating the “French house” project, expanding French international schools and developing international clinics in the city, he said, hoping to receive support from local authorities in the efforts.
