On August 18, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan worked with Chinese entrepreneur, TMEC CHEC3 and domestic agencies and firms related to bidding package 7 of the project on the city’s hygiene and environment. Mr. Quan asked all entrepreneurs to fulfill their commitments by the fourth quarter next year.
He also pledged to support them in licensing special permits for their material transport vehicles could operate inside the city during daytime if the vehicles do not litter along streets. The city’s Finance Department was instructed to give priority for the project by quickly releasing capital in line with the amount of work done.
Bidding package 7 worth US$ 30 million, which comprises an 8.5 km underground drain, 36 drilled wells along Nhieu Loc-Thi Nge cannel, would have been done by the end of 2006. Yet only 50% of the work has been so far accomplished.
Earlier, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee had divided package 7 by half to ensure the pace of the project.
