Lychee - the specialty of Luc Ngan to be promoted in Hanoi
PANO – A program to promote lychee – a specialty of Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang will be held in Hanoi from June 7 to 16, announced the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee at a press conference on June 4.
According to the province, the district has 15,290 ha of lychee, of which more than 12,000 ha of the fruit are grown under the VietGAP and Global GAP standards. This year, the locality is expected to harvest 80,000 tons of lychee, priced at VND 30,000 - 60,000/kg.
Over the past years, Vietnam has exported lychee to different foreign markets, including China, the U.S., Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, and the U.K.
Earlier this year, the US Agriculture Department granted codes to 18 lychee orchards in seven communes of Luc Ngan district while China recognized 36 local lychee orchards that meet the market standards.
During the week, there will be various activities to promote Luc Ngan lychee as well as other agricultural products of Bac Giang, according to the organizers.
