During the week-long event, big supermarkets and wholesale markets will sign contracts with Luc Ngan businesses, cooperatives and farm owners to buy litchi.
According to the Department of Commerce and Industry of the Northern province of Bac Giang, this year’s litchi production is estimated to hit 100,000 tons, equivalent to 70 percent of the previous year’s output. Of them, there are 26,000 tons of early-ripening litchi and 74,000 main-crop litchi.
About 40,000 tons of fresh litchi are expected to be shipped to China, representing 80 percent of this year’s litchi exports, said the department.
Apart from China, the province has also expanded consumption markets to the US, the EU, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
